Who We Are

We moved to NZ in 2007 from the UK with an 18 year old cat and 16 year old dog. 

Moving to the otherside of the world.. with nowhere to live

Our NZ employers offered a good package and money for our relocation, but 2 weeks before we were initially due to arrive we had nowhere to live. 

We found it virtually impossible to secure pleasant rental accommodation which would accept a cat and a dog.  Our main problem was that estate agents were simply not interested in dealing with us over the internet  as if we were not here to view a property we could not rent it. 

Having someone on the ground makes life easier

After changing our flights twice, eventually a contact in our HR department agreed to view properties on our behalf and we eventually secured a great house, on a 3 month lease, which accepted our pets and was just perfect – we could not have done this without her.

Apparently in the majority of relocations one partner flies out first, stays in a hotel for a week and views properties that week – we didn’t want to do that.  We all (cat and dog included) flew out together, landed together and went straight to our home.

Avoid the stress, get it sorted before you arrive.

It was very stressful, you try flying for 24 hours, hiring a car, finding your way to the estate agent to collect the keys, finding the house, having to ring gas, electric and phone companies to get utilities switched on, then having to go back to the airport to collect the pets and fit in some essential shopping on the way – we were frazzled.

 

Our aim at Well Located is to use our contacts and experience to make your first few days in NZ much simpler than ours.
